Wallice is turning up the heat with her newest single, “I Want You Yesterday,” a playful yet poignant anthem that dives deep into the messiness of modern love.

The LA-based artist, known for blending indie-pop with an alt-rock edge, gives us another taste of her upcoming debut album, The Jester, set to release on November 15. Following her successful EPs, Mr. Big Shot and 90s American Superstar, and tours with Still Woozy and The 1975, Wallice has built a reputation for her genre-crossing sound, and her latest single continues this streak with a sound that’s punchy, vibrant, and unmistakably her own.

“I Want You Yesterday” opens with an irresistibly deep bass line and a playful, flute-like melody that instantly grabs your attention. Wallice’s unique vocals, layered over introspective lyrics, pull listeners into a story that’s both personal and widely relatable. The track touches on the rollercoaster of desire, love, and the thrill of infatuation, adding a fresh spin to the familiar highs and lows of romance.

“This track was actually the first song I wrote with Mikey Freedom Hart and Marinelli as a team,” Wallice explains. “It set the tone for our collaboration on the entire album. Originally, the beat reminded me of something you’d hear on a Beatles record, and while we weren’t sold on the verses right away, I loved the simplicity of the chorus. We eventually tried a ‘how would different artists approach this?’ exercise to shake things up, and we ended up creating a fun, dynamic sound that feels a bit outside my usual style.”

The song dives into the intense excitement of falling for someone with a lively metaphor, as Wallice compares her love interest to a bullfighter, singing, “Fell in love with a carnivore, I don’t think he likes me / I’m in love with a matador, kinda drawn to his red flags.” This mix of wit and vulnerability creates a track that feels fresh and relatable, speaking to anyone who’s ever been drawn to someone’s dangerous charm.

With the catchy chorus, “When there’s something I want, I always get my way, and baby, I want / I want you yesterday,” Wallice delivers a blend of confidence and openness that leaves a lasting impression. As we look forward to The Jester, Wallice is proving that she’s not afraid to dig deep and deliver raw, captivating music that speaks to the complexities of love and attraction—and we can’t wait for what’s next.
