With an undeniably electrifying and rhythmic energy, The Harbours and their latest release, "The Rise," make a bold statement about the undeniable huge future of this band.

From within the very first few moments, a subtle slide of the guitar strings, this track commands attention, and it does not disappoint. The guitars chime with clarity yet roar with distortion, expanding the sonic landscape into something vast and immersive. When the drums and bass erupt into the mix, they leave no space unclaimed, forming an impenetrable wall of sound that hits with the force of a tidal wave. The bass, thick and resonant, serves as the anchor of the entire arrangement, rumbling through the mix with a weight that feels almost seismic. The drums, crisp and explosive, pulse with such intensity that they seem poised to rupture the speakers, each rapid-fire fill demanding hyper-focused attention, ensuring not a single strike is missed.

Then the vocals arrive, and they are nothing short of a revelation. There’s an effortless fusion of raspy grit, falsetto inflections, and raw, full-throated screams that set this band apart. The sheer range and emotional depth packed into just the opening moments are a testament to why The Harbours are making such an impact on the indie rock scene. One of the track’s most exhilarating moments is the first major break, where the bass builds tension before the drums explode back into the mix, a moment of production and performance brilliance that underscores the band’s dynamic craftsmanship.

The lyrics hit with a striking sense of urgency and ambition:

“Had a heart attack when you see me on the screen / 60,000 people that I’ve never even seen / Who would ever believe?”

Delivered with impeccable cadence and vocal embellishment, this line is a standout moment. The way the delivery shifts, moving from a raw rock intonation to a smoother, almost jazz-infused release on “who would ever believe?” adds an unexpected but masterful touch, making it one of the song’s most captivating sections.

The song’s arrangement is nothing short of spectacular, perfectly mirroring its title, "The Rise." The build-ups and breakdowns are executed with precision, creating a sense of constant elevation, as if the track itself is propelling upward in a relentless surge of energy. The anthemic power of the chorus, layered with soaring screams and massive instrumentation, conjures the immersive, euphoric energy of a full-scale festival performance.

Just when you think the track has revealed all its tricks, The Harbours switch gears once again. The sudden drop into a subdued, ballad-like interlude showcases their versatility, momentarily reining in the chaos to let the raw emotion breathe. It’s a moment of controlled intensity, a calculated wild ride that adds yet another layer of depth to the song’s already expansive soundscape.

Then, the climax. The drums blaze into a machine-gun-paced solo, launching an all-out sonic assault that is immediately met with a fierce response from the rest of the band. Guitars strike back with unrelenting force, the bass crashes down like an earthquake, and the vocals tear through the mix with unbridled ferocity. The finale is an explosive crescendo, an orchestral storm of rock ‘n’ roll fury, before, with a final masterstroke, everything is ripped away to an abrupt, full stop. The silence that follows leaves only one choice, hit play and take the ride all over again.

Just when it seems the track has reached its peak intensity, the production takes it even further, elevating the song to another level. The meticulous engineering captures every nuance with precision, creating a crisp, immersive listening experience. The vocals cut through the mix with striking clarity, while the balance of instruments remains flawless, each element distinct yet seamlessly woven into a cohesive whole. There’s a raw, organic quality to the sound, ensuring that the track never feels excessive or overproduced. Instead, its natural intensity is allowed to shine, making "The Rise" an even more powerful and unforgettable experience.

"The Rise" is a breathtaking performance, a testament to the raw talent and vision of The Harbours, Ollie Drakard and Will Massarella-Tyler, who are also impressively the writers and producers of this song.

We can't wait to hear more and experience live this tremendous duo.
