Begin Interview:

Hello La Sante, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more excited to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.

Q. What inspired the name La Sante for your artist persona? How does it capture the connection you want to build with your fans?

A. Strange story, it came from the very first Spotify-playlist i made as a teenager (still active and updated today). I don’t know where the actual name came from, i think i was looking for something that didn’t mean anything and La Sante seemed appropriate. I have learnt afterwards that it means ”health” in French if you put an accent on the E.

Q. Can you walk us through where the inspiration for this latest project comes from?

A. It’s been slowly developed through these past years really, think it started during the pandemic and kind of evolved through time to the shape it is today together with my producer Gustaf Björlin. So basically this is a quite old song, finally being set free. The inspiration has been coming from all different kinds of art, the films of David Lynch, the time of day we like to call "the blue hour", and i guess a big part of it is from some kind of meloncholic yacht rock. There’s some Fleetwood Mac in there, some Night Moves, some Roxy Music.

Q. Beyond the inspiration, what emotions were you hoping to evoke in listeners with this release and how do you hope it resonates with them?

A. I was looking for a dreamy, slightly laid back vibe but with a hooky chorus. The lyrics are rather meloncholic and depicts a relationship, whether it’s with a person or a substance or a mindset that you feel you should leave but somehow can’t. It’s bittersweet and naive.

Q. Can you describe the theme behind your artwork, featuring an image of parasailing with a crowd watching? What inspired this choice, and what emotions or messages did you hope to convey to the observer through this visual?"

A. It’s an old picture of my grand-dad parasailing for the first time during some kind of opticians working holiday in Greece back in the 70’s. I just fell in love with the picture and the sense of freedom it brought. And it made me miss my grand-dad who always was a huge inspiration for my musical awakening and who always pushed me to explore my musical creativity. Miss you Nonno.

Q. Your sound is incredibly unique, with a powerful resonance that perfectly complements the mood of your music. Your smooth and captivating vocals draw listeners in effortlessly. What musical influences or personal experiences have shaped and inspired the creation of this distinctive and authentic sound?

A. Thanks! Musically there’s thousands of bands who laid the groundwork for my songs, but to name a few there’s Diiv, Drugdealer, Tame Impala, My Bloody Valentine, Ride, a bunch of shoegaze-bands from the 90’s, aswell as a couple of neo-psych/noise bands from these past decades. Personal experiences have been things and people around me, not necessarily anyone in particular, but i try to capture feelings and convey them somewhat into a story.

Q. “Nothing But Trouble” captures such a raw feeling of emotion and the story about being left with “nothing but rubble”. With its high levels of anguish and emotion, how do you feel after performing this song, whether in the studio or live, i.e. is it cathartic or draining and how do you prepare for this emotional result?

A. I feel fine, like i said, it’s not necessarily me singing about something in my life, as it is a story i conjure up, of course inspired but things i’ve been through but i try to not make it too much about myself.

Q. Where do you start the production of your music, i.e. in a home recording studio or with an outside producer? How do you finalize your finished work, ie self-mixed/mastered or another source?

A. Usually it starts with me humming or playing some melody on my phone. Then i put it into work on my Macbook, basically produce the whole thing in Logic as well as i can by myself, then i get the help of an amazing drummer (Carl-Emil Larsson on this one), i lay down vocals at the fantastic Robin Rudén to get it just right and then my producer Gustaf Björlin puts his magic fingers to work. Then finally my friends at One Touch Edit do their Mastering-magic.

Q. Which instrument serves as the foundational starting point for any musical creations, and how does it influence the direction and overall sound of the compositions?

A. For me, usually the guitar or keys.

Q. What was the most challenging part of bringing this project to life, from the initial idea to the final recording?

A. Probably finding the right sound and vibe, the idea is always there in my head, but it’s translating it to actual music that’s the hard part.

Q. What part of the music-making process is the most stressful, ie the creation, the actual release date, etc?

A. Getting the vibe right, and not getting stuck in trying to change it up all the time.

Q. Which of your already released songs, including this one, is the most important to you, or had the most impact on your life or career and can you tell us why?

A. Probably the first one, ”We Belong Here”. A song about my hometown and about leaving certain aspects of your life behind as you grow older.

Q. We see you have some tour dates scheduled and the way you even make mention of your shows makes the sound so intimate and exciting. Can you tell us about them and what fans should expect?

A. Oh! That’s more than i knew, outside of the release gig we did last Friday. I don’t really know what fans would expect as we’ve played quite few shows so far, but we try to make it as intimate and intense as possible.

Q. Which top 3 live music venues or festivals are on your bucket list to perform at?

A. I’d love to perform anywhere really, but Roskilde would be pretty cool. Any fun festival in the UK, and there’s a fantastic festival called PLX down in the archipelago just outside of my hometown Karlshamn in Blekinge, Sweden. It’s on an island and it’s incredibly nice. Would be a dream to do a set there.

Q. So, what’s next? Can you share the full details on your future projects and what fans should be excited about? We’re hearing about more releases, and we’d love to be the first to announce it!

A. Hopefully to release more music as soon as possible. I do have an album, almost ready, i just need to put the pencil down and get it out. And hopefully some more gigs aswell.

La Sante, thank you so much, we appreciate you taking the time to talk to us!
