New Vibes Alert: Moody Joody’s "Ground Control" Inspires a Joyful Escape
Nashville-based indie alt-pop band Moody Joody unveil their uplifting and cathartic anthem "Ground Control," which is out now along with a vibrant music video. This latest release is designed to inspire joy in everyday life while steering clear of burnout. Fans can experience the new music live at Moody Joody's hometown performance on November 8 at Row 1 in Nashville.
Next month, Moody Joody will hit the road with alt-pop/rock act MisterWives for the MisterWives: Just For One Night! tour on select dates.
After experiencing a tough time, the only way is up. With its catchy melody and playful lyrics, "Ground Control" encourages listeners to tune out distractions and escape the feeling of being stuck in a monotonous routine. Penned in New York City with frequent collaborator Scott Harris (Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa), the track serves as a bright reminder to
take chances, aim high, and look forward to what lies ahead.
Vocalist Kayla Hall explains, "At some point, it evolved into an upbeat anthem about feeling burned out from the grind of side jobs and getting caught in a cycle of dissociation and dissatisfaction." Vocalist Kaitie Forbes adds, "What’s more therapeutic than crafting a rock-bottom anthem?! 'Ground Control' speaks to anyone who's reached their breaking point in their artistic journey."
The music video, directed by Gavin Hurlburt, is a heartfelt collaboration that the band is excited to share. On the video’s core theme, Hurlburt states, “The concept revolves around existentialism. We’ve all had to endure jobs we despised and perform tedious tasks. The video delves into how we escape—or cope with—reality and aspire for a better life.”
