“LIMINAL” surges with unrelenting force and cinematic beauty in an extraordinary achievement from Shane Lentz.

We discovered Shane Lentz and took a deep dive into his immense talent and growing legacy, which led us straight to his latest release, “LIMINAL”, and we were absolutely floored.

To fully experience the track, we turned to YouTube for the accompanying visualizer. It opens with a sweeping drone shot over the ocean paired with a dreamy, ambient synth that eases the listener into a meditative calm. This was followed by a textured guitar tone with a soft distortion and an entrancing, cascading rhythm that lulled us into a tranquil state, enhanced by the backdrop of soaring mountains and a still, endless sea. Then came a shift when thick, resonant bass lines struck with commanding force, grounding the sound with bold, deliberate weight. At that point, nothing could’ve prepared us for what followed.

Suddenly, like the earth collapsing in on itself and being launched skyward in ash and shrapnel, Shane Lentz exploded into the mix with a guttural roar so raw and sudden it left us stunned, and also fully electrified. It was a seismic musical moment, pairing the orchestral calm of the intro with sheer sonic violence. That contradiction, expertly executed, created a collision that was stunningly unbalanced in the best possible way. The scream didn’t just feel powerful, it felt endless, alien, and transcendent. It brought with it a rush of emotion: fear, awe, even a sense of apocalyptic beauty.

The drumming intensified with primal energy, making the ground beneath us feel unstable, as if the calmness of the opening had been nothing more than the breath before detonation. The visuals remained unchanged, but the emotional landscape shifted entirely. That duality, serenity giving way to chaos, was crafted with such precision that it became overwhelming in the most immersive sense.

What stood out beyond the vocal fury was the instrumental composition that supported it all. Without any drastic volume spikes, the arrangement swelled in intensity, shaped entirely by Shane’s emotional projection and vocal ferocity. He knows how to inject energy into a track and funnel it directly to the listener. What began as a peaceful immersion transformed into a full-body experience of annihilation, yet remarkably, we were still watching the same serene visuals. That contrast was haunting. The emotional transformation felt supernatural.

Shane’s power doesn’t register as destructive or malevolent. Rather, it resonates with an ethereal strength, as if the chaos he channels comes from a place of purity, not darkness. That distinction made us even more willing to surrender to his message.

As “LIMINAL” progressed, we began to feel like our presence on this planet is something permitted only by the Earth itself, a temporary allowance rather than a right. The music prompted reflections on our fragility and smallness in a universe so vast and indifferent. The song stirred the sense that at any moment, existence could be revoked, not out of malice, but by cosmic indifference. The Earth continues, the wheel turns, with or without us.

The most impactful part was how Shane was able to extract those thoughts from us, seemingly without force. The feelings flowed as effortlessly as the cascading waters on the mountains in his visualizer. The connection between what we saw, what we heard, and what we felt was seamless. That rare ability to awaken someone's internal monologue and align it with his own narrative is something few artists achieve, and it’s precisely what will propel Shane Lentz to even greater acclaim.

We were deeply impressed by Shane Lentz’s unmatched musicality and conviction. His authenticity and emotional connection to his music are undeniable. In a sea of sound, his work stands out, commanding, articulate, and deeply impactful.

Vocally, Shane’s delivery is relentless, unleashing a continuous sonic surge that embeds itself in the listener’s psyche. Every element, from the emotional charge of the instrumentation to the technical precision of his performance, is executed with intensity and control.

He communicates powerful messages through his powerful and effective medium, and we absolutely loved it.

Every moment of this release resonated with us, and we’re excited to see what Shane does next.

Shane Lentz’s “LIMINAL” is a breathtaking fusion of technical brilliance, raw emotion, and cosmic intensity.

Shane Lentz’s creative vision is as vast as the sonic spaces he explores. His new single “LIMINAL” is just one piece of an expansive work, part of the upcoming EP APHOTIC | LIMINAL | NIHIL, set for release on April 25. As a true one-man force, Shane not only composed and performed every track but also handled the recording, mixing, and mastering process, making his fingerprints audible in every detail.

Originally emerging as a standout bassist, Shane has evolved into a full-spectrum multi-instrumentalist, known for his ability to blend aggression with atmosphere. This new release builds on his legacy, merging the intensity of metal with the immersive textures of shoegaze and blackgaze. His vocals cut through with a visceral edge, yet the soundscapes remain expansive and contemplative, striking a balance between brute force and cosmic introspection.

Drawing from themes of existential emptiness and the scale of the cosmos, Shane uses music to explore not just what lies beyond us, but also what stirs within. His discography, which includes The Hollowing Abyss (2024), The Solitude of Discovery (2021), and Reverse Horizons (2014), reveals a fearless approach to composition and concept. He’s also contributed to bands like Kamikabe, Ys, and Cabaret Runaway, and lent his talents to Jeff Loomis’ acclaimed Plains of Oblivion in 2012.

We’re so excited to have found Shane Lentz and can’t wait to hear more.
