Okay, so let’s talk about Riley Lynch’s new single, "proximity kills," because WOW—this one hits deep. You know that feeling when getting too close to people just feels... dangerous? Like, no matter how much you open up, you end up disappointed? Yeah, Riley totally gets it, and this song is basically the ultimate recluse anthem.

Originally, Riley wrote "proximity kills"on guitar and brought it to Shannon Roc. Then, they linked up with Tony Livadas at his West Hollywood studio, and boom—the song came together in just one afternoon. Fast forward, and now it’s one of Riley’s all-time favorites.

The track itself? Absolutely haunting. It’s got that raw, emotionally charged energy that makes you wanna scream the lyrics in your car at midnight. The production is moody, powerful, and perfectly in sync with the theme of self-preservation vs. human connection. And the music video? A whole statement on embracing your real, unfiltered self instead of watering yourself down for people who don’t even deserve you.

I've always felt like people don’t truly know me. They do, but they don’t," Riley explains. "Over the years, I’ve kept so much of myself hidden because getting too close to people often led to disappointment. I’m closed off, but I can breathe now—and I like it that way.

If you enjoy Maggie Lindemann and Annika Wells, you'll understand what I mean by emotionally charged.
