We’re big fans of Plu2, a rising star in the EDM, house, and vocal pop scene, whose music is as compelling as the backstory. Plu2 is a multifaceted talent, a writer, composer, producer, and even a mixer and mastering engineer, crafting sounds entirely in a home studio. The dedication and skill that go into each track are impressive, and this latest release, “Stuck In My Head”, is no exception.
After the success of the previously released track,"Getting Older", we were eager to hear what would be dropped next. Right from the opening notes, “Stuck In My Head” sets itself apart with a metallic, synthesized piano that feels fresh and unexpected. When paired with the single’s artwork, it creates a cosmic otherworldly vibe, as if floating through space. The hollow, spacious foundation amplifies this sensation, drawing listeners into an almost weightless experience.
As the lyrics come in:
"Another broken song / I hear it in the darkness / When all along I can’t escape it"
And then the beat drops with a powerful, driving force. A rippling, almost bubbling synth effect is added and feels distinctly electronic, layering seamlessly with the deep, resonant pianos and punchy bass beats. The decision to make the piano sound so full and rich added that full sound dimension, almost as if it’s playing double duty as both melody and rhythm. The bass itself is hefty and grounding, creating a vast soundscape that sets up the soaring vocals perfectly.
One of the track’s most striking moments is when the vocals take flight, almost gliding above the mix. It’s a dynamic, elevated feeling, as if the voice is sweeping over the listener. The subtle reverb at the end of specific phrases is a clever touch, adding just the right amount of depth to make it linger. This reverb acts as a mental hook, something the brain clings to, making the melody stick long after the song ends.
As the song shifts gears, the synth transitions from a spacey, ethereal tone to a more dance-driven pulse. It’s a full, heavy rhythmic sound that charges the atmosphere with electricity, conjuring images of flashing colored lights on a packed dance floor. There’s a clever, almost hidden use of an electronically manipulated violin that surfaces just enough to tease the ears without dominating the mix. It’s a subtle detail that makes the track richer, rewarding those who listen closely.
The song closes with a stripped-back synth sound that leaves room for DJs to experiment and play, making it both a strong standalone track and a versatile mix element.
We really loved this track. It has roots in classic house and EDM while pushing forward with modern touches, especially the metallic piano, which shakes the track’s core and sets it apart from typical dance music. Plu2 has once again proven the ability to innovate while staying true to the genre’s foundations.
