New York dreamgaze band Panik Flower release their new single and video for “ocd”. The single comes off their upcoming EP rearview that arrives on April 30th. The new video directed by Aji Bass, presents the band as a close knit homage to 90’s grudge, combining the erratic and soft duality that bands of that era brought to the table. The second single from their new EP rearview, following up "alkaline" a track that brings to the forefront lush, crushing guitars and biting vocals from Sage Leopold.

Panik Flower consists of Sage Lepold on vocals, Mila Stieglitz-Courtney and Jordan on guitar duty along with rhythm section of Max Baird on bass and Marco Starger on drums. The newest single from “rearview” tackles the digital obsession that bleeds into one’s psyche whether they want it or not. Fighting through the haze of the modern day apathy with  dreamy reverb soaked guitars along with punchy rhythm section. Taking a head on approach to new age digital apathy, the band find themselves fighting against the current with their brand of slick indie rock.

Driving home the point of how despite being aware of our toxic relationship to the internet, vocalist Sage Leopold reiterates how  “It has a complete chokehold on our daily functions living in the modern world even when you’re aware of how toxic it is. The chorus really drives this point home with the repetition of the lines ‘you catch yourself but you can’t catch a break, you catch yourself but you can’t look away.”

With the band taking cue from their New York predecessors such as Sonic Youth and Garage, guitarist Jordan Buzzell says in regards to their inspiration for the new video “Visually, we were inspired by classic 90’s grunge videos like Sonic Youth’s ‘Bull In the Heather’ and Garage’s ‘Stupid Girl.’ We wanted the ‘ocd’ video to exist across time periods and serve as an homage to the early days of rock music video making.”.

Panik Flower a relatively new band with one EP under their belt, forming in 2022 and with 2023’s “Dark Blue” which found the band exploring romance, highlighting track 4 “Playground” which found the band in the midst of spacey indie rock. The new singles from the upcoming EP rearview, explore the inward journey of reckoning with nostalgia and overwhelming sense of struggle to keep whole throughout it all. Panik Flower’s new EP rearview comes out April 30th, listen to the singles alkaline and the new video for “ocd”.
