Mr. Autumn just released "Forces' Sweetheart in The Well," and we had the chance to check it out. We were absolutely blown away.

When we learned the story behind this release, we immediately headed to the official YouTube Music channel to experience the highly anticipated track and its accompanying visualizer.

The song opens with a down-tuned guitar that carries a commanding presence, setting an electrifying tone. The acoustic element in the introduction is rich and engaging, drawing the listener in instantly. Visually, the opening is just as striking, a bright light bursts forward, surrounded by exhilarating colors, making for a tantalizing first impression. A glass Mary statue illuminated by dramatic lighting takes center stage. The contrast between brightness and the feeling of a dimly lit space is masterfully executed. As the guitar work becomes increasingly layered and intricate, rhythmic yet soothing, the supporting harmonies emerge as truly divine and transcendent. The entire atmosphere is now set, priming the audience to fully absorb the experience.

The opening lyrics hit hard:

“She likes to frequent bars and have a talk with strangers, dressed in scars mmmmmm.”

This line is not just evocative but deeply revealing. The phrase “strangers in scars” alone tells a profound story, one of misplaced companionship and seeking solace in the wrong places. The imagery is gripping and sets the tone for a poignant narrative.

As the song unfolds, the interaction between the characters comes to life, and Mr. Autumn’s vocal performance is nothing short of astounding. His powerful and vibrant delivery is breathtaking, carrying an emotional weight that is both raw and beautiful. The placement of the interlude is spot on, and the soaring emphasis on the word “dark” is particularly impactful. The song takes an unexpected and thrilling turn as the bass begins to thunder, shaking the foundation of the track. The tone shifts dramatically, and the visuals become more erratic, with quicker edits that heighten the sense of urgency and angst. As the song reaches its crescendo, the vocals explode, enveloping the listener like a sonic wave. Gentle piano flourishes weave through the soaring vocal embellishments, showcasing Mr. Autumn’s incredible talent and range.

Halfway through, the song takes yet another exhilarating turn, launching into a funky, bass-driven groove that transforms the mood entirely. This shift is completely unexpected but absolutely thrilling. You can feel the depth of emotion in every note, Mr. Autumn pours himself into the performance, making it impossible not to be completely captivated. The production techniques and engineering are remarkable, elevating an already stellar vocal performance. This is a one-hundred percent win in our book.

The track eventually circles back to its original, gentler roots, transitioning from its high-energy peak into a more introspective and sparse piano arrangement. The final words, “Some sunny day we will meet again”, linger with a haunting beauty, closing the song with the same emotional depth it began with.

This performance and its visual counterpart are the result of immense thought, talent, and creativity, culminating in an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. "Forces' Sweetheart in The Well" is an absolute must-hear.

We can’t believe we are only now discovering Mr. Autumn and we absolutely adore "Forces' Sweetheart in The Well."

Mr. Autumn is a singer-songwriter from Ghent, Belgium. His work is inspired by nature, human behavior, nostalgia, life cycles, and melancholy. He explores themes of coping mechanisms, self-reflection, and emotional struggles, crafting music that resonates on a deeply personal level.

One particularly notable aspect of this release is that it was recorded entirely at home while Mr. Autumn was recovering from a hand injury that required rehabilitation. The lower guitar tunings, initially a necessity to reduce strain while playing, ended up becoming a defining characteristic of the song’s mood and message. With only a two-input interface, he had to employ creative recording solutions, pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved with limited equipment.

Mr. Autumn also experimented with unique techniques in this track, including playing guitars with a violin bow,a nod to influences like Jimmy Page and Jónsi. Additionally, he incorporated the Shepard Tone technique in the layered backing vocals, creating an effect of endless rising and falling, adding to the song’s hypnotic depth.

This is a brilliant release from an artist whose talent is undeniable, and we can’t wait to hear what comes next from Mr. Autumn.

You can find this release on any major platform, make sure to playlist, stream, and share "Forces' Sweetheart in The Well" by Mr. Autumn.
