Matthew Hayes Jacobs just released "Born into the Mass Mind," and after learning about its message, we were eager to dive in and experience it firsthand.

From the title alone, we were immediately captivated. "Born into the Mass Mind" evokes feelings of fear, concern, and anticipation, making us anxious to uncover the message behind it and engage with creation from the mind that conceived such a profound concept, Matthew Hayes Jacobs.

With a hyper-charged, dramatic entry, the song immediately seizes your attention, leaving no room for reflection. A relentless barrage of messages and information bombards you like a machine gun, creating an overwhelming sensation, yet, paradoxically, you find yourself completely fixated. The song’s rapid-fire delivery mirrors the ceaseless nature of modern advertising, profit-driven motives, and an unrelenting stream of stimuli. The words keep coming, unceasing and relentless, and the more they flood your senses, the more you feel compelled to absorb them.

The album artwork, depicting a multicolored brain growing from a tree with deep roots in the ground, serves as a visual challenge, daring you to take it all in. The human mind, wired for curiosity, instinctively seeks to decode and internalize the song’s message.

This is where the genius of Matthew Hayes Jacobs’ technique shines through. By fusing production mastery with lyrical methodology, he taps into our inherent need to consume information, highlighting how corporations and media exploit this trait. However, rather than focusing solely on the vulnerabilities of mass consumption, Jacobs shifts the perspective, acknowledging that those who possess the strongest minds are the ones least likely to resist this relentless onslaught, rather they feel challenged to conquer. What a frightening realization. The strong will become the enslaved.

Lyrics that spill truth:

“Perpetual wanting / never quite satisfied”

“We’re running out of time / our time here is precious”

The high-energy yet erratic, frenzied acoustic guitars intentionally create a sense of unease, anxiety that perfectly mirrors the emotions we all experience when endlessly scrolling. Matthew Hayes Jacobs has masterfully encapsulated this modern phenomenon. The sensation, the emotion, the words, every element aligns in a hypnotic yet unsettling portrayal of our collective fixation. A standout moment in the track comes with a drum fill that catapults into a raw, gritty, and twangy electric guitar solo, a detail we absolutely loved.

A defining feature of this track is its meticulously crafted musical arrangement. It’s chaotic yet rhythmic, hypnotic yet anxiety-inducing. It pushes you away while simultaneously pulling you in. The relentless nature of its message strips away your ability to pause and reflect, which is precisely the point Jacobs wants to drive home. This track doesn’t just talk about information overload, it makes you feel it. What an incredible way to describe (fight) fire with fire.

You can find this release on any major platform, make sure to playlist, stream, and share "Born into the Mass Mind" by Matthew Hayes Jacobs.
