We couldn’t wait to dive into the debut release from MAMA, I’M, so we headed straight to YouTube to experience the official music video for “PATIENCE” and it was a trip and thrill ride we could not have predicted.
The video opens with a striking scene: our lead singer sits inside a U-Haul box truck, watching a video on an old-school analog screen. Then, we cut to the band out in the middle of the wilderness, their entire apartment seemingly transported outdoors, with instruments, TVs, a bed, and personal belongings meticulously arranged as if still within four walls. Immediately, the video introduces a surreal depth, inviting us to unravel its meaning.
As the scene shifts to nighttime, the setting of “PATIENCE” evolves into a dreamlike exterior bedroom, still complete with powered lighting, carpet, mirrors, chairs, and scattered books. In the background, hauntingly ethereal harmonies drift through, setting an atmospheric tone. The meticulous editing enhances the concept, making this one of the most visually inventive introductions we’ve seen in a while. It’s a sensory reset. By the time the song truly begins, we’re left in eager anticipation, completely drawn in by the visuals and the mood they've crafted.
The track musically opens with a smooth fusion of R&B and gentle rap-integrated vocals, instantly showcasing MAMA, I’M’s unique sonic persona. The vocal delivery is mesmerizing, effortlessly gliding over the sparse yet deliberate instrumentation.
