Madeleine Rauch Unveils Her Emotionally Charged New Single “On My Mind

We came across the incredible singer Madeleine Rauch and had the chance to watch her official music video, which definitely starts off strong and beautifully. Utilizing her most powerful asset—her vocals—to open the song was a brilliant decision, one that had a huge impact on the listener. We hear the lyrics, “You’re in my dreams and I can’t stop.” The vocal delivery is outstanding, and the emphasis on the word "stop" truly showcases the power and control she possesses. Like an angel, her tone is sweet, soft, and fills the air with a magical sensation.

Adding another layer of depth to the song, an unexpected R&B rhythm emerges, elevating the track further. We were not expecting this shift, and it was an absolute delight to watch the visuals alongside the music. The video portrays a distraught protagonist in various emotional situations, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, the song takes another turn, bursting into a new level of energy. The invigorating beat and uplifting bassline complement the protagonist walking away, shaking their head as the soft, ethereal tones fill the air again. The solo performance by Madeleine at this moment is stunning, placing her front and center.

Her vocal skills and artistic toolkit are undoubtedly going to propel her to new heights, earning her recognition from fans and industry leaders alike. The R&B sound has a subtle retro touch, yet it remains entirely contemporary and cutting-edge—definitely worthy of radio play. As the bassline returns, the video’s precise edits align perfectly with the song’s emotional tones, keeping the viewer captivated and hypnotized by this incredible performance. What makes this video truly unique is how it feels like a short film, with every element perfectly complementing the song’s message. Huge credit goes to the production, engineering, and video teams for crafting such a fantastic end result.

Madeleine Rauch delivers an unforgettable performance with "On My Mind." Her masterful vocals and captivating visual storytelling create an experience that feels both modern and timeless. This is an artist whose talent is destined to leave a lasting mark on the industry.

Wait… there's more!We had the chance to catch up with this exciting artist for an exclusive interview in "The Cage" Music Blog, where we discussed their music and got to know them better.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview

Hello Madeleine Rauch, we’re thrilled to have you for this interview! We've thoroughly enjoyed diving into your music and exploring your work, and now we’re even more eager to discover more about you, both personally and professionally.

As a solo artist, what are the main challenges you face, and how do the benefits of working independently compare to collaborating with others?

I used to be in a band as a teenager. It’s great because you get to share responsibilities and you’re not the only one investing in the project. As a solo artist, I of course collaborate with songwriters, producers, photographers and videographers which is always amazing. Seeing them pour their talent and skills into my artist project is incredible and creating something together feels really good! But at the end of the day I am the one that is responsible for everything and everything depends on my investment in it because I am an independent solo artist. It would definitely be nice to have another person that is pushing the project as much as I am and that I could consult with and go through the ups and downs with. As a solo artist you might have a lot of freedom but also a lot of responsibility to bear alone.

Was music always a career path for you, or was there a defining moment that made you realize this is what you wanted to pursue professionally?

I always dreamed of making music for a living but I was too scared to admit it. So it wasn’t until I had to decide where to go to college that I decided I want to go to music college and pursue a career in music. But pursuing music stays a path full of ups and downs so I feel like the defining moments that inspire you to make music and keep pursuing this path - be it a lot of Spotify streams or another artist’s performance or a new song you wrote - happen more than once (hopefully many times) and remind you every time why you chose this career. Growing up I was inspired by artists like Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys and Whitney Houston now I would add H.E.R., Nao, Snow Aalegra and so many more.

Performing, singing and writing music has just always felt so deep and healing that I guess I couldn’t help but follow this path.

What emotions typically inspire your songwriting? Do themes like heartbreak, frustration, or joy play a recurring role?

I tend to write about difficult times more than joyful times. Probably because writing is a form of therapy to me and a way to cope with things like heartbreak and self-doubt. But then I also like to write songs about self-encouragement and overcoming those difficult situations which can be healing, too.

Can you walk us through your songwriting process for "On My Mind"? Where do you like to write, and what inspired this particular track?

I got an instrumental demo from my friend and producer Josh Jacobson and started adding melodies and lyrics to it. It’s funny because I was a bit undecided what to write about in the beginning…if I should go for a positive vibe or write about the heartbreak I was going through at the time. I wrote the song a few years ago and it took a while to finish and release it. The song describes a difficult on/off relationship with someone but most importantly it expresses how exhausting heartbreak and healing can be. When I finished my demo I gave it to Jordan Sherman to complete the production of the song and we came up with the idea for the arpeggiated bass in the chorus which I really loved!

What instrument do you typically start with when composing your music, and why?

It depends! Sometimes I start with chords on piano or guitar and sometimes I produce a rough beat first and then add the vocal melodies and lyrics. Or I get a beat from another producer and topline on that! I think I’ve hardly ever written my lyrics first and then added the melody to it… the melody usually comes before or with the words.

Is there an instrument you haven’t mastered yet but would love to?

Oh yeah of course! I would love to play the instruments I already play (piano, guitar) better and learn bass and drums, too!

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Oh probably a lot. It’s a really tough business. I wish there was more fairness and transparency in the industry and that women could feel and be safer. There is unfortunately so much exploitation!

Have you ever been on tour, and how has that shaped your artistry?

I was lucky enough to go on tour with German rapper Marteria in 2017 and 2018. It was an amazing time performing in front of huge audiences of over 20,000 people and sleeping on a tourbus going from city to city. The band and crew were amazing and the whole thing gave me high school field trip vibes sometimes (lol). Touring is also a lot of work and exhausting though! Since it wasn’t related to my music I’m not sure if it shaped my artistry but it shaped me as a performer and human being and I’m really thankful for those experiences! It just gave me more confidence and overall performing experience!

Was there ever a time when you felt emotionally drained and considered stepping away from music? How did you find the strength to continue?

Yes, I would say feeling drained and doubting yourself or your path happens to most of us musicians or artists of any kind. It’s just a really difficult path! It often includes a lot of work and little reward. But then when you get the reward or feel inspired again by things like feedback from fans or writing a song you love or getting a new opportunity you find the motivation to continue!

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to believe in myself and that I am and what I do is good enough and to keep writing and practicing because it’s worth it in the end!

What is your favorite song to cover, and why?

Oh there are so many songs I like to cover and it also changes all the time! Right now it’s What You Won’t Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell and I Like It by Debarge. Another all time favorite of mine is Diary by Alicia Keys!

What’s the most inspirational thing a fan or someone else has told you about your music?

I mean any compliment and positive feedback means so much to be honest! Sometimes people dm me on social media out of the blue to tell me a how much my music means to them. And it really means the world to me to hear that! I think one of the earliest compliments I got that really stuck with me was a friend in high school telling me “your voice makes me wanna think deep thoughts”. And I thought that was really cool because it was not a generic compliment but expressed the impact my music could have on my listeners. And I loved that!
