nyxotype’s "Spider the Spellwork": A Raw and Hypnotic Journey Through Unconventional Soundscapes

We had a chance to experience “Spider the Spellwork”'s music video by the immensely talented artist, nyxotype, and immediately recognized that this music was unlike anything we’d heard before. The raw sound, paired with an intense bass, created a powerful and unique resonance that we instantly connected with. Deciding to take in the full experience, we listened while watching the song’s visualizer, and it was absolutely the right choice. Watching nyxotype traverse a vast, barren landscape, we turned off the lights and fully immersed ourselves, completely fixated.

The beats are intensely innovative, evoking a feeling of anxiety in the listener. The beats are sharp and thrusting, almost as if recorded both forwards and backward, pulling air from the speakers rather than pushing it out. With an almost angelic whisper, nyxotype creates a sensation where you lose control of your own thoughts. The hypnotic quality of the track pulls you deeper, making it impossible to focus on anything else, and as you do, it relaxes you more and more.

As the camera pulls back, an overwhelming sense of impending doom builds, with heavily distorted vocal tones filling your ears and dark clouds enveloping the sky. This powerful use of music to invoke raw human emotion was one of the most striking highlights for us. The shimmering water appears to tremble, enhancing the haunting atmosphere. It feels as though the beginning and end of the song are one continuous loop, as if it was never meant to end, only cut in the studio. This looping effect compels you to hit repeat, entranced by its endless, comforting sound.

There’s a rawness to the track, with a slight grit in the vocals that adds emotional depth. It feels unrefined in the best way, allowing the artist’s pure expression to shine through. This isn’t your standard label pop—it’s much more unconventional, with nyxotype fully in control, and that creative freedom gave birth to this truly exciting track.

We plan to keep a close eye on nyxotype, as we expect more groundbreaking and raw music from this artist in the future. Fans will undoubtedly love what comes next.

Powerful Quotes:

“Finally breaking the surface.”

“Welcome to my realm of enigmatic vocals, mezmerizing beats and a melodic soundscape that will lure you into an otherworldly voyage to be remembered."

Wait… there's more!

We had the chance to catch up with this exciting artist for an exclusive interview in "The Cage" Music Blog, where we discussed their music and got to know them better.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview

Hello nyxotype, we’re thrilled to have you for this interview! We've thoroughly enjoyed diving into your music and exploring your work, and now we’re even more eager to discover more about you, both personally and professionally.

How long have you been making music?

Music has been with me since I was a kid, thanks to the big bulky piano which I keep dragging around, no matter where I live.

As a teenager I started writing poetry, which would naturally melt into melodies and then become songs.

Was there always a desire to create music, or did you have an event in your life that made you realize this is what you want to do as a profession?

Something really impactful was training to have lucid dreams in my twenties. Lucid dreaming is a state of mind during sleep where you bocome aware that you are dreaming and therefore are in full control of the plot. Everything is possible. I was surprised to find out that the one thing I would always do is to compose music. Learning about this certainly was like a large direction sign on my journey.

Can you describe to us the theme for your artwork and what was the inspiration and intention for the observer to absorb from it?

I frankly shy away from analyzing or describing "the message". Don't even know of I could describe it any differently than it is communicated within the artwork itself. If my music speaks to you, resonates with you, touches you, I am keen to know how. If it does not, no explanation of mine will make up for the lack of vibe.

Can you tell the fans something they might not know about you and why you create music?

as unlikely as it may seem at first glace, there is another decision to which I owe my development as a producer and that is starting to train Muay Thai about 7 years ago. After the first session I remember simply saying to a friend "I need this." Training muay thai gave me dicipline, endurance, frustration tolerance, confidence and a great deal of fun. I would not have coached myself through the hard parts of producing without it. My next release will be the first track I produced. It is called The Shore and was written in a time when I was out of training because of health problems and delineates the process of fighting your way back into a state of vitality.

We read that you are a solo project; do you have any plans to possibly collaborate with other artists ever, and if so what would your vision of this be?

So, yes, I am a solo artist but open to collaboration, there just needs to be a creative spark and a good workflow in the match, I guess.

What is your favorite song to cover?

Just today I got hooked on the idea to do a kind of darkish remake of Forever Young by Alphaville. We'll see...

What was the most challenging part of bringing this project to life, from the initial idea to the final recording?

Having a thousand ideas, lots of open projects and really sticking with and prioritizing a few of them is challenging. Also, I cannot force myself into creating. If my mind is tired, it just does not work.

What part of the music-making process is the most stressful, ie the creation, the actual release date, etc?

Just a few months ago I finally made the decision to publish music. A very basic yet inspirational quote from a friend was: "Art is there to be seen! It hast to be put out there!"

That resonated strongly with me.

But it still takes every ounce of courage to upload a track into the moody realm of the internet and especially social media. I totally feel like Alice in wonderland with regard to the music industry and every step I take is basically trial and error. But I learned a lot already.

If there was one thing you could change about the music industry, what would it be?

I love that it is so much easier to publish music than it must have been 20 years ago and there is such a rich variety in sounds out there. On the other hand it is sad how artists are being played into the role of customers when they should be the product. At least those are my impressions.

What is your favorite quote?

Oh, there are plenty! But what feels right right now is this:

"What is to give light must endure burning" - quote from Viktor Frankl.

So bring it on!
