Hello Mary releases their powerful album Emita Ox.

We dove headfirst into Hello Mary’s latest release, Emita Ox, and let’s just say the opening track, "Float," blew us away right from the start. With its full vocal orchestra layered over distorted guitars, this song immediately grabs your attention and refuses to let go. The repetition of the lyrics “float” is harrowing yet beautiful, especially when combined with the exhilarating drum work and powerful vocal performance. There’s something about the "floooooat. Don’t come down" line that hooks you right in. And just when you think the track has hit its peak, about three-quarters in, it absolutely explodes with an intensity like a nuclear volcano. We’re not exaggerating here, this track is pure fire, with blazing guitars and searing vocals that make it impossible to turn away.

We skipped down to "0%" and were instantly taken by the soft guitar melody that opens the song. But it’s when that deep bass kicks in that we were fully sold. The way the bass and screeching guitars meld together is perfection. The energy in this track is off the charts. We couldn’t help but think that "0%" should have been called "1000%" because it really amps up the intensity.

"Emita Ox" from Hello Mary is like a nitrous-powered joyride you don’t want to miss a second. This band takes the raw energy of classic rock 'n' roll, mixes it with modern alt-rock, and delivers a high-octane, rich, and emotional performance that has us hooked.

Hailing from Brooklyn, Hello Mary composed of Helena Straight (guitar/vocals), Stella Wave (drums/vocals), and Mikaela Oppenheimer (bass)—has been building a strong presence in the alt-rock scene since their 2019 debut. Emita Ox, released via Frenchkiss Records, is the band’s latest evolution, taking their sound to the next level by blending heavy distortion with personal, introspective lyrics.

The album spans 11 tracks, each with its own unique flair. "0%" is a raw, intense anthem featuring Stella Wave’s first-ever screams, while "Heavy Sleeper" strips back the noise for a haunting, minimalist vibe. "Three," born out of writer’s block, surprises with a stunning piano outro, making it one of the most memorable tracks on the album. Personal favorites like "Down My Life" and "Courtesy" bring depth, while longtime fan-favorite "Knowing You" adds to the album’s eclectic mix. And let’s not forget "Bubble" and the nostalgic closer "Everything We Do," which bring the album full circle with their emotional resonance.
