The Martyr’s latest EP, “Ashing My Thoughts” is thunder and lightning in a bottle.

Looking to get blown away? Put down whatever you’re doing, crank up your loudest sound system, and dive into The Martyr’s latest EP, “Ashing My Thoughts”.

This powerhouse release opens with “I Died Every Day,” a fierce showcase of raw musical talent. From the first note, you’re hit with a wall of sound, a relentless barrage of Marc's heavy, gritty guitars delivering a blend of power and control that demonstrates the band’s mastery. The guitar tones are aggressive yet precise, a full-force display of metal distortion and polished technique that fills every corner of the track.

Tas on the drums is relentless, delivering blistering speed and thunderous fills that drive each transition, effortlessly matching the intensity of the guitars.

And then there's Gia, whose vocals channel a sustained, baritone ferocity, cutting through the heaviness with clear precision and dynamic range. The synergy between Gia, Marc on guitar, and Tas on drums is palpable. It’s a rare kind of chemistry that gives the song a driving energy and cohesion, taking the listener on a relentless musical journey that’s impossible to pause.

As you listen, there's barely a moment to catch your breath. Midway through, an intense interlude lets you emerge momentarily from the mosh-pit madness before the drums come roaring back in, fast and furious, with the rest of the band keeping pace. Gia’s vocals sustain the momentum, combining force with a raw, emotional intensity. When the bass tones take a subtle yet powerful lead in the next interlude, it adds depth and introspection, showcasing that The Martyr isn’t just about screams and speed, they’re about delivering a powerful, excellence in performance, visceral message.

Next up, we heard “Backrooms” hits with another fierce explosion of sound. This track centers around the moment of victory, the realization that you’ve proved every doubter wrong. The soaring vocals and roaring guitars pair with screamo elements to create a sonic experience that’s as intense as it is triumphant. Just when you think you’ve heard all The Martyr can bring, there’s a climactic, guttural scream followed by drumming that challenges the limits of speed and endurance, showcasing the skill and stamina of the entire band.

Title Track: "Ashing My Thoughts":

The EP’s title track, “Ashing My Thoughts,” rounds out the experience with an epic, almost theatrical quality. Inspired by heavyweights like Iron Maiden, The Martyr brings a new level of intensity and flair, transforming their influences into something uniquely their own. Gia’s vocals, raw and powerful, lead the track as the band experiments with dynamic interludes that ebb and flow. Just when the tempo drops, the beat explodes again, with guitars, drums, and vocals combining to create a layered, full-bodied sound. Each element shines on its own, but when combined, they form a new, cohesive and exhilarating sound. Excellent work from The Martyr!
