Electric High blasts into the heavy metal scene with a searing album 'Colorful White Lies' that’s both a tribute to the genre's roots and a leap into its future. With each track, this band takes its audience on a visceral journey through unrestrained intensity, intricate musicianship, and unfiltered emotion. Electric High doesn’t merely ask to be heard; it demands to be felt, as it tears through one powerhouse song after another, creating a rock experience that’s as heart-pounding as it is memorable. Below, each track unfolds its own story within this sonic mosaic, showcasing the band’s versatility and raw power.

“Sun” - Ignition Point

"Sun" is a flamethrower of a track that wastes no time getting started. From the outset, the drums ignite like a controlled explosion, only to be met by searing guitar riffs that shatter any sense of calm. Vocalists PV Staff and Olav Iversen’s entry is intense and addictive, merging seamlessly with the band’s relentless pace. The cohesion between the musicians shines as they synchronize abrupt stops and rapid changes effortlessly, highlighting Electric High’s tightly-knit dynamic. This track sets an electrifying tone for the album, establishing Electric High as a finely tuned rock machine with no intention of slowing down.

“Colorful White Lies” - Anthemic Power

In "Colorful White Lies," Staff and Iversen’s vocals soar above a vibrant, festival-ready arrangement. Thunderous drums and vivacious guitar melodies propel the song forward, with a clapping rhythm that brings a stadium-sized energy to the mix. The cymbals are perfectly placed, riding high over an equally energetic bassline, giving the track a layered depth. With lyrics like “You’re the only one freaking me out,” the song resonates with an electrifying message, demanding sing-alongs and making it a track with high replay value.

“Seven Wonders” - Raucous Depths

"Seven Wonders" leans into a slightly different vibe but doesn’t lose any intensity. The song channels some classic Iron Maiden energy with its massive bass undercurrents and chanting lyrics. It’s a track that delivers both structure and wildness, balancing choral vocals with unyielding guitar lines. The overall effect is mesmerizing, providing a bold shift in tone and pushing the listener deeper into the album’s rich, multifaceted landscape.

“Go Easy On My Heart” - Metal Balladry

This track opens with a balladic softness unusual for heavy metal but stunning in its delivery. A vulnerable plea in the lyrics gives way to a powerful blend of metal and tenderness, echoing the softer side of rock with heavy-hitting vocals that still maintain the genre’s intensity. "Go Easy On My Heart" reveals the band’s capacity to express nuanced emotion, combining the rough exterior of metal with introspective lyrics to create a compelling ballad.

“Cyclone” - Relentless Energy

With “Cyclone,” the band reinvents itself once again. The song’s breathless pace and the rapid-fire lyrical delivery make it an instant adrenaline rush. This track feels like a sonic whirlwind, with the guitars powering through as the song’s heartbeat. The stomp-and-clap rhythm is festival-perfect, primed to energize crowds with its unrelenting momentum. Just as the energy reaches a breaking point, the guitars intensify, making “Cyclone” an unforgettable highlight.

“Royals in Rags” - Gritty Power

This track is a heavy, gritty tribute to rock’s raw power. The guitars here are crushing, paired with a beat that’s impossible to ignore. With vibes reminiscent of early Judas Priest, “Royals in Rags” feels both timeless and innovative. It’s clear that Electric High isn’t just playing at metal; they’re living it. This track underscores the album’s authenticity, offering rock ‘n’ roll in its purest, most unfiltered form.

“Rough Diamond” - Genre Fusion

"Rough Diamond" showcases Electric High’s fearless musical exploration. This song integrates jazz and dance elements within a rock ‘n’ roll framework, a daring fusion that highlights the band’s versatility and talent. Lyrically sharp and rhythmically captivating, “Rough Diamond” reflects the band’s capacity for genre-blending, expanding the boundaries of heavy metal. This is a standout track that proves Electric High can transcend conventional expectations while remaining true to their rock roots.

Final Verdict on Electric High

Electric High is a force of nature in the metal genre. This album does more than revisit heavy metal’s past glories; it reshapes them, infusing each track with fresh energy, intricate instrumentation, and crystal-clear production that never wavers, regardless of volume. The engineering work ensures that every beat, riff, and lyric is perfectly balanced, giving the album an exceptional polish.

Electric High has created a work that’s as cohesive as it is diverse, proving that heavy metal is alive, thriving, and evolving.

Electric High came to life during a raucous night out in Bergen in 2019, sparked by members of Faith Circus, Sahg, and Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies. With dual vocalists PV Staff and Olav Iversen at the forefront, Electric High quickly distinguished themselves with a fierce sound, blending alternative and classic hard rock. Staff and Iversen’s vocal interplay meshes seamlessly with Marius Mørch’s striking guitar work, Einride Torvik’s resonant bass lines, and Tor Helge Opdahl’s driving drums. Together, they deliver a style that could be likened to Rival Sons and Royal Blood taking the stage with the energy of an Aerosmith show.

The journey from studio to finished album involved intense collaboration and artistry. Colorful White Lies was produced by Electric High, with Iver Sandøy co-producing and engineering at Bergen’s Solslottet Studio, while Daniel Birkeland contributed as engineer at Havnelageret Studio, also in Bergen. Sandøy’s mastering work adds the finishing touches, giving the album a rich, clear sound.

Electric High’s unmistakable style shines across Colorful White Lies, with everything from adrenaline-fueled anthems to brooding, immersive moments. This first album establishes Electric High as a fresh voice in hard rock, with a style that’s fierce, authentic, and fully their own. Prepare to experience a new level of rock intensity.
