Doron Karavani kicks off his album Time to Rise‘ with the dynamic track “Catch Me If You Can,” a pure showcase of his unmistakable essence.

With Karavani, you’re never entirely sure what you’re going to get, but you know it’s always going to be something to love. This track is built on a rock-solid foundation that recalls the timeless spirit of Tom Petty, yet Karavani takes it even further with an upbeat, horn-infused sound that bursts with energy. He opens with his soft, intimate vocals, crafting a duet of sorts with the horns that respond playfully to his call, leading up to the spirited shout of “Oooo Yeah.”Toward the end, it feels like the entire ensemble steps up for a full-band showdown, echoing the classic 70s vibe of groups like Sly and the Family Stone or Van Morrison. Karavani’s command over the band is mesmerizing, like he’s orchestrating a grand, joyful jam session. This track is an exhilarating sunburst of sound, where every musician shines under Karavani’s direction. A spectacular start by Karavani and his extraordinary ensemble!

The next track, “Not Tonight,” is a perfect blend of Karavani’s raw, emotive vocals, with just the right mix of power and vulnerability. His voice, both crisp and slightly raspy, lays bare an emotional plea as he sings:

“Why are we fighting again? / We all got to work / Got to say what we think”

The song captures the tension of modern struggles and introspections, and Karavani’s delivery radiates that passion right through the headphones. You can almost see his intensity, as though every note and lyric pulls directly from his core. It’s an audio-visual experience that paints an image of Karavani pouring his heart out on stage, each line resonating like the petals of a rose unfolding.

The title track, “Time to Rise,” brings in beautiful acoustic guitar work, gentle yet slightly unpredictable, echoing the natural cadence of an unfiltered expression. It feels as though this song was created in a moment of pure inspiration, free from over-engineering. The slight rawness in the arrangement adds an authentic layer of emotional texture. The organ’s warm undertones mix with the horns and electric guitar twinkles, creating a sonic tapestry that once again captures Karavani’s unique magic.

Then there’s “Freetime,” a smooth, radio-ready ballad that glides effortlessly with twinkling piano keys and a beautifully balanced instrumental backdrop. This track has a pristine clarity, a three-dimensional quality that makes each instrument feel like it has its own space in the mix. The production here is masterful, with every note and instrument distinct yet perfectly blended, inviting you to sink into the music.

Finally, we reach “Look At You.” The soft strumming of the guitars and punchy drumbeat provide the perfect stage for Karavani’s heartfelt, dramatic delivery. The lyrics, especially lines like:

 “just the two of us,”

evoke a warm sense of nostalgia. It’s a sentimental, touching performance that will leave you with a smile, reminiscing on life’s sweetest memories.

To truly understand Doron Karavani and his artistry, the following quote of his captures the essence of his creative spirit perfectly:

“I write songs like I make food. Something new and tasty every day. “Every time I need to let something go, especially if I’m feeling down, I grab my guitar and make a song. It helps me think. And that’s why many of my songs are about making changes - changes in myself, my own thinking and acting, and also changes I want to see around me.” Improvising and making songs is my way of dealing with stress. “ I decided to make the record and release it because I believe other people can relate to my music and lyrics”

We highly recommend this artist and if you yearn for high quality performances with an orchestral rock pop vibe you must listen to Doron Karavani and his album Time to Rise‘
