We had a chance to check out the new EP from Coma Beach, "Passion/Bliss" and we couldn't wait to share our experience.

This EP is solidly packed with exceptional work and stands as a testament to this artist's ability to craft high-quality music. We identified several standout tracks, but we strongly encourage you to explore the entire release to fully immerse yourself in its experience.

Beyond the music itself, the band has also released lyric videos and a visualizer for "Bliss" (single version), designed by Sara K.. After experiencing their sound, you'll be grateful that there’s so much to consume!

Starting off with "Bliss  - Single Version" it immediately clears your audible palette like a shot of adrenaline. The down-tuned guitar opening, played masterfully by Captain A. Fear, and the thunderous beats from M. Lecter set a somber, melancholic tone, while the accompanying visualizer showcases tantalizing bursts of color. Then, the vocals hit, unlike anything you've heard before. B. Kafka’s delivery is among the most distinctive we've ever encountered. His voice is unmistakable, standing out even amidst a sea of noise. It’s a raspy, commanding, yet subtly frustrated delivery, what you might imagine a being from another world would sound like. Gritty yet powerful, his voice compels you to listen while simultaneously leaving you addicted to its raw intensity.

Another defining characteristic of this track is its performance-like structure. Rather than simply playing their instruments, each musician contributes to the emotional narrative that the listener is meant to absorb.

When you hear the lyrics:

"Clad in a veil of self-deception / Sleepers rise to start their fall / Into a world of ill

conception / Down from little to nothing at all"

The emotionally charged delivery is hypnotic and possesses a sense of urgency. This gradually transforms into a thunderous, tightly executed drum buildup that crescendos into a powerful climax, an urgent plea to awaken and face a reality we've been avoiding. As if B. Kafka is lost in a fit of emotional exasperation, the lyrics shift to sharply quipped phrases, as if he is desperately trying to save us from ourselves. It’s thought-provoking and intense.

The interplay between Captain A. Fear’s searing guitar work, M. Blunt’s rhythmic precision, M. Lecter’s thunderous drumming, and U. Terror’s pulsating bass is equally gripping. The instruments drive forward with relentless force, only to suddenly retreat before chaos erupts again. The rumbling bass roars like a speeding freight train, the scorching guitars cut through the mix, and the punchy, driving beats push everything to the limit, all of which are matched by B. Kafka’s fire-breathing, explosive delivery. This band is so intense and powerful they could turn a library into a blood-soaked mosh pit.

One of our favorite aspects of this band's recording is its authenticity. This isn't an over-engineered, overly edited, cookie-cutter performance. The sweat, the raw energy, and every nuance of their performance are captured in every second of the recording.

After taking a moment to catch our breath, we dove into "Passion - Single Version ." Even as first-time listeners, it’s clear that this band takes their technical abilities seriously, prioritizing performance and emotional delivery above all else. This song initially presents a stark contrast to "Bliss", gentle and solemn, yet stunningly arranged with an orchestral flair. The violins create an air of elegance, while sustained guitars cut through the soundscape with crisp, clean precision. The slow, deliberate drumming by M. Lecter remains tight, subtly accentuated by delicate cymbal work. The vocals, though still gritty, take on a ballad-like quality. The result? A beautifully haunting, brilliant composition that induces a sense of relaxation.

But, of course, this band has more in store for us. Just as the listener settles into the song’s tranquility, B. Kafka erupts into a firestorm of emotion. The drums accelerate into a frenzy, the guitars wail with unrestrained energy, and the controlled chaos returns. The back-and-forth between serenity and explosive frustration mirrors an internal struggle, like someone who has resigned to their fate, only to suddenly fight back with every ounce of energy left. This band's ability to manipulate emotions and pull listeners into their world is nothing short of masterful. The rollercoaster of sound and feeling solidifies them as a force to be reckoned with. Their dedication to their craft is undeniable, and it shines through in every note.

We wrapped up with "The Final Door – Radio Edit," and, once again, the energy was undeniable. The drum and guitar interplay, with M. Lecter’s commanding beats and Captain A. Fear’s electrifying riffs, is tight, rhythmic, and brimming with momentum, primed for another round of slam dancing. The guttural screams and growls sound as if they’ve erupted straight from the depths of hell. We can already picture the mosh pit: bodies flying, chaos reigning. At its core, this band is a fire-breathing cyclone of sound. If you’re ready to lose yourself in an electrifying musical experience, this is the band for you!

Hailing from Würzburg, Germany, Coma Beach defies easy categorization, seamlessly fusing punk rock’s raw grit with the haunting atmospherics of alternative rock. With a lineup featuring the unrelenting vocal prowess of B. Kafka, the razor-sharp guitar skills of Captain A. Fear, the precision drumming of M. Lecter, the deep, driving basslines of U. Terror, and the intricate rhythm work of M. Blunt, this band thrives on delivering music that is as emotionally intense as it is technically impressive.

Drawing inspiration from legends like the Sex Pistols, Hüsker Dü, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, Coma Beach crafts a unique sonic landscape that channels existential dread, biting satire, and brooding introspection. Their lyrics, infused with literary and philosophical depth, mirror the bleak yet gripping narratives of Beckett and Schopenhauer, tackling themes of inner turmoil, societal decay, and psychological unrest.

Coma Beach proves that their sound is not only a reflection of chaos but also a deliberate, artful exploration of the human condition. Every note played and every word sung pulls the listener deeper into their dark yet enthralling world, leaving an indelible mark that lingers long after the music fades.
