Rob Eberle's EP, "COLLATERAL DAMAGE," is so impressive that choosing a favorite track is challenging. High-energy, fast-paced drums layered with guitars fill the song "act like that!" It's electrifying and exciting, instantly turning listeners into fans. The intensifying drums escalate to a culmination of incredible, powerful vocals. The breaks and subsequent returns, hitting over and over, and it was an instant win for us. "ILYM" made us think, "We love you more too, Rob!" "hope you feel ok" features a punchy rhythm that fills the room and suggests a possible love story, showcasing an incredible and flawless vocal demonstration. We haven't talked about all of them, so here's your chance to prove us right by checking them out and becoming a fan yourself. It's time to playlist and check out Rob Eberle's “COLLATERAL DAMAGE” today.

Wait, there's more! We caught up with this exciting and emerging artist in “The Cage” to talk about music and much more.

Here’s how it went:

What first sparked the passion for creating music?

I grew up in a very musical family—everyone was singing. My dad, my aunt, my grandma, you name it. When I was 8, my grandparents gave me a blue lefty guitar, and I believe that's what sparked my passion for music.

Can you walk us through your songwriting process and where the inspiration comes from for this latest project?

My songwriting process changes depending on the song or project, but for my new EP, “COLLATERAL DAMAGE,” it was pretty consistent. I started writing it about three years ago, knowing from the beginning that it would be an EP. Growing up was tough—I was bullied all through high school, and my parents were splitting up. It felt like I had no one, so I turned to songwriting to cope. I poured everything into my guitar and piano. I named this EP "COLLATERAL DAMAGE" because I often felt like I was everyone's collateral damage, just caught in the fallout of their actions.

Where do you create your music, i.e. in a home recording studio or with a producer? How do you finalize your finished work, ie self mixed / mastered or another source?

Like many of my other projects, this EP was a team effort, and I honestly love it that way. Collaboration is key in this ever-changing industry. The production started with a song called “Half of You,” which I made with Jackson Hoffman and Ryder Stuart back when I was still living in NYC. The rest of the project was produced by Blake Stokes in LA, where I’m based now. Working with these guys has been such a pleasure, and I’m so glad we could create something great together. To finalize my work, I collaborated with the incredible Andrew Castillo and John Buser. They’re both extremely talented, and I’m so grateful for their hard work and dedication.

What was the most challenging part of bringing this project to life, from the initial idea to the final recording?

This project had a really interesting process. It's funny because I was so indecisive about how I wanted the final project to sound. For example, there's a song on it called "hope u feel ok." I must have cut this song 3 or 4 times over three years until I finally got it right. The first time I cut it was back in Nashville in 2022. It had a completely different vibe, barely any movement, and was strictly acoustic. It never felt "right." Then, in February of this year, I brought it to Blake Stokes, and he transformed it into what you hear now!

If there was one thing you could change about the music industry, what would it be?

Social media and I have a real love-hate relationship. As these platforms keep evolving, the music industry keeps changing too. I've had people tell me I won't get anywhere unless one of my videos goes viral. It's a bit discouraging, but I believe that as long as you stay consistent and motivated, that's far from the truth.

Where do you see your sound and artistry heading in the future? Are there any exciting new directions you're exploring?

I love this question because I never want to be genre-specific. I love experimenting with new sounds and new genres. I am leaning more towards the Pop Rock realm right now, but ultimately I want to end up Pop Rock with little elements of Alternative.

What instruments do you play? Which is your favorite?

I play guitar, piano, bass, and drums. I have to say the piano is my favorite.

Please tell us about the last time you performed. Where was the show, and what was your experience?

I had an LA show at Genghis Cohen a few weeks ago to celebrate the release of this EP! It was truly such an incredible experience with some great friends, family and friends. I cannot wait to do it all again!

Have you ever been on tour and can you tell us a little about the experience?

I currently am doing a mini tour for this EP with 6 shows total in 5 cities! My two LA shows have already passed but next up is Boston in late August! I cannot wait to perform these shows because performing is my favorite part of being an artist.

What advice would you give your younger self and why?

I love this question as well. As cliche as this sounds, it gets better. It truly does. I have gone through a lot of things coming out of my teenage years that have set me back from being who I truly am. But there is always light on the other side and I am so grateful for that.

What is your favorite song to cover?

Burnin’ Up by the Jonas Brothers! I love implementing audience interaction into my sets and this song is always a fan fav.

When you become famous, what band or artist would you love to tour with?

It is an absolute dream of mine to tour with FINNEAS and Billie Eilish. They both are huge inspirations of mine.
