Let me put you on to someone you need to know—Chris Jobe. Starting 2025 with a literal bang, he just dropped a brand-new single, “Drowning 4 U,” and a visually insane music video for “Don’t Make Me Fall In Love.” And when I say this man is redefining indie music, I mean it. His sound? Genre-blending. His storytelling? Heartbreaking in the best way. His vibe? Unmatched.

Okay, quick backstory: last year, Chris straight-up quit his job and moved to Costa Rica for months. Casual, right? But it wasn’t just a vacation—he used that time to fully immerse himself in a creative reset. The beaches, the sunsets, the vibes—it all inspired this stunning mix of bedroom pop, indie rock, and soul that somehow makes you feel everything all at once. Every song feels like it’s holding your hand through an emotional spiral, and I’m here for it.

Now let’s talk about “Drowning 4 U.” This song hurts in the best way possible. The lyrics dive into that overwhelming, soul-crushing feeling of being in love with someone who’s not there anymore. He uses this whole drowning metaphor that just hits—like, have I ever been literally drowning? No. But do I feel that same emotional chaos? Absolutely. Add in these lush synths, layered vocals, and a melancholic beat that somehow still feels uplifting, and you’ve got a song that’s gonna live rent-free in your head.

And then there’s the “Don’t Make Me Fall In Love” video, which is straight-up art.

It’s about this actress (played by Chris’s sister, btw) who’s trying to play a woman falling in love but keeps getting wrecked by her own fear of it.

There’s demonic visions, hallucinations, and this whole battle with herself until she finally finds peace by, like, facing her fear. Chris not only directed and produced it but also stars in it as the on-screen director. The fact that this was made with his friends and family? Ugh, my heart.

Chris Jobe is honestly what indie music should be: raw, personal, and completely unapologetic. He’s not afraid to take risks, mix genres, or pour his whole heart into his work, and it shows. From vibing in Costa Rica to headlining sold-out shows, he’s proving you don’t need to follow anyone else’s rules to make something truly special.

So, if you’re not already streaming “Drowning 4 U” on repeat, what are you even doing? Chris Jobe is on the rise, and trust me, you’re gonna want to say you were here before he fully blows up.
