Bury the Pines absolutely impresses with their latest release, "Destiny."

Bury the Pines explodes right out of the gate with an exciting, bold, and powerful musical introduction. There are so many elements of not just pop punk, but also underlying hints of traditional rock 'n' roll, cinematic movie scores, and a pinch of 80s-style (think Aerosmith) ballad delivery. You can't miss the introductory orchestral momentum that barrels down like a semi-truck with no brakes. After the intro, there's a brief interlude with a softer ballad style and terrific harmonies, then it blasts off into soaring vocals. It’s a rush! This is a beautiful display of ability and musical prowess by the vocalist and the entire band. The drum fills and emphatic beats are blazing, adding an intensity that enhances the sensation this track delivers. The back-and-forth melody feels like it’s being played in each ear separately and then toggled, giving you a sense of dizziness and adrenaline.

They add another incredible layer with some screamo, topping off this high-energy performance. The band’s intention to let each instrument and the vocalist shine without overshadowing one another is clear, and they pull it off masterfully. Every element, down to the bass, is crystal clear and prominent, giving each piece its own place in the recording. The lead bass provides a refreshing balance, something often overlooked, and it’s terrific that each instrument is so powerfully executed. The guitars blaze, the vocals maintain a stunning intensity, and it makes you want to experience this band live.

A big shout-out to Evan Hendrix for the mix and mastering. It was a huge task, especially with such a full sound, and the result is outstanding. What a terrific job by the whole band!

Exciting info about the band:

With the information that "Destiny" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by rhythm guitarist Evan Hendrix, we also learned Hendrix joined the band on stage this year. The track itself dives into a story about searching for and reconnecting with a lost loved one, inspired by lead vocalist Marcus Smith’s love for the Kingdom Hearts video game series. Whether or not you’re a fan of the games, the emotional depth and powerful delivery in this song are impossible to ignore. As lead guitarist Joe Skowronski puts it, "This is our favorite song to play live. It’s always fun for the crowd, especially the ones who get all the references in it."

The release of "Destiny" wraps up a long journey for the band, who started jamming together as far back as 10 years ago. Guitarist Joe and drummer Mat Markuz built the foundation for these songs back then, but it wasn’t until 2023 that they officially came together with Marcus, bassist Nick Fischer, and Evan. Since then, they’ve had the chance to open for killer post-hardcore acts like Secret Gardens, Sincerely, Death Dance, and Fauxtrot.

One thing that really stands out about Bury The Pines is how well they let each instrument shine. "Even when the instrumental is trying to stay out of the vocals' way, we are still going as hard as we can," the band explains. There’s a new layer to discover every time you listen, making "Destiny" one of those songs that keep you coming back for more.

With "Destiny" closing out their string of singles leading up to their debut EP, Bury The Pines is ready to make their mark. Whether you’re a fan of Kingdom Hearts or just love high-energy rock that hits all the right notes, this single is set to bring an unforgettable listening experience. Keep an eye on these guys—they’re just getting started.
