We found the band Blueprint Tokyo, and their new EP, “Blue” and immediately jumped in to check it out!
Heading over to Blueprint Tokyo’s Youtube, we saw some really cool visualizers and decided to immerse ourselves in this opening track “Odysseus”. With vibrant colors and images, coupled with a sweet blue saturation, it helped us really absorb this energetic track. What immediately stands out is the high energy and full band sound. The vocals are nicely mixed into this track and are slightly angelic, with a touch of harrowing quality, giving us a slight feeling of anxiety. When the chorus hits, the beats kick up as if we’ve pushed the accelerator and are ready to max out the speedometer. The drops are unpredictable creating a desire to remain fixated, and alongside this the singer delivers beautifully. The guitars also stand out in the presentation. We do want to touch on the drums; they are perfectly laid into the mix, and the changes in the feel are tremendous. When we get to the guitar solo, this track just takes us home. The visualizer is captivating; all of the images are wicked, and we’re watching them right now on a big screen in the dark, making it all the more awesome!
When we hit the part of the song where the vocal declaration hits:
“I can breathe!”
It's an excellent and show stopping presentation.
Moving on to the next track, “Only Hearts,” the opening has a completely different feel—calm and slightly solemn. The acoustic guitars are a really nice addition to this song. Vocally, this song is outstanding. With extreme power and control, you can absolutely hear the emotion. Once again, we fall in love with the drum patterns and fills, which are very exciting and captivating. This band performs a terrific job of changing tempos within the same song, which we really enjoyed. Changing tempos in a song tends to really accentuate the listener’s experience. This song will undoubtedly be fantastic in a live venue, and the fans will really soak it up.
Next, we moved to “Mission Control” and watched the lyric video. The band is a really great job of providing visualizers and you gotta check them all out. It’s a little bit of Foo Fighters in this song with a lot of high energy and very uplifting styling.
Right at the one minute mark you’re gonna love the soaring:
“We need hooooope”
It's inspiring. Drums and guitars again, blazing and setting this track on fire.
We wrapped up this EP by listening to “Transfer “ The intro is just super dope and already iconic. There’s a guitar, drum, and vocal intro that you just can’t describe and we’re not going to. We want you to go and listen for yourself!!! This is a definite stand-out track and we don’t like to play favorites but.. wink wink.. we might like this one the best. The Full drops with drum pills followed by soaring vocals and then some really gritty guitars create an outstanding track. One more thing, just wait till you get to the guitar solo plus vocal on this one!
Big shout out to the engineering team because this kind of music is definitely the hardest to mix and master. They created a really clear track where you can hear each individual instrument and the vocalist with absolute diamond clarity. We bet money that there were a lot of rehearsals before this track was recorded for such an amazing outcome.
