BlueBelle has just dropped “Giddy Up”, and it’s a certified dance-floor firestarter. The track oozes with a modern twist on disco, packed with energy and glamour, perfect for any big screen at a club in L.A. or worldwide. The R&B rhythm, crafted with a groovy and addictive bassline, sets the foundation for an irresistibly catchy vibe. From the very first beat, “Giddy Up” grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.
The vocals are a true standout, bringing a sultry energy that perfectly complements the beat’s pulse. When BlueBelle sings:
“Ride Mina, ride Mina, let the reins go,”
it feels like an invitation straight to the dance floor. This line alone captures the essence of disco's ecstatic freedom, channeling Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder vibes with a fresh twist, while BlueBelle’s unique style keeps it feeling new and textured.
Production-wise, “Giddy Up” is a feast of sounds with layers of instrumentation that create a hazy, entrancing atmosphere. The song’s mix feels immersive, almost cinematic, and adds a touch of nostalgia while keeping things contemporary. Just after the one-minute mark,
BlueBelle brings in a breathy interlude that’s pure eargasm territory, smooth and intimate, with just the right amount of reverb to keep you hooked.
The “Giddy Up” music video is equally captivating. With smoky, dimly-lit visuals, layered translucent images, and colors that seem to pulse with the beat, the video elevates the track’s vibe. It’s practically begging to be on your weekend playlist, ready to turn any space into a dance party.
The song tells the story of a horse named Nina, inspired by a dream of lead singer Maeve Bluebell Wells. Maeve teamed up with Tom Griffin, whose infectious production and smooth guitar work set the foundation, while Chloe Beth Smith’s lush synths and keyboards add the finishing touches to the track's rich sonic landscape.
BlueBelle is more than just a band, they’re a movement, self-described as a group of “Italian-Disco loving Welsh creatures.” Taking inspiration from mysticism, Welsh mythology, and wild women, BlueBelle was curated by singer-songwriter Maeve Bluebell Wells. Their debut, High Priestess (2022), was a collaboration with Grammy and Brit award winner Steve Levine, and the trio continues to craft a distinct sound from both Liverpool and London.
With engineer and music director Chloe Beth Smith (known for work with Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry) and producer/guitarist Tom Griffin (from Panthalassa), BlueBelle aims to fuse bilingual (Welsh & English) synth-pop with a nostalgic yet futuristic edge. Fans can look forward to a powerful, sophisticated sound that channels the spirit of icons like Goldfrapp, Madonna, Stevie Nicks, and Blondie.
After their nearly sold-out performance at London’s Two Palms on September 27th, BlueBelle is ready to take listeners on an irresistible sonic journey, one that celebrates dance, individuality, and a bold, unified vision.
