Autorub releases powerful new single "The Falling (432Hz)" with driving guitars and sharp lyrics
“The Falling (432Hz)” shoots right out of the cannon with some gritty electric guitars that growl right to the center of your brain. When we hear the lyrics, “it was your plan right from the start, agent of chaos, demon at heart,” we know right away that this isn’t going to be a soft-hearted love song—it's a breakup ANTHEM to get over someone who did Autorub wrong. Autorub is the multi-instrumentalist AKA Michael Corn, and when you hear the unique, deeply inflected style of his singing technique, you’ll understand why this song is so infectious. Corn has a kind of sing-and-storytell style that makes the music captivating and pulls you in, making you want to learn what the story is about.
When you hear him deliver:
“Falling deeper into darkened space Falling further out of touch with grace Falling into what you can't escape,”
-you’ll be just as impressed as we were with the perfect balance of power and grace in his vocal performance. There's a beautiful harmony and catchiness to the guitars and melody. When we read that he’s using a technique of 432 Hz tuning, which is known to have healing properties, we weren’t surprised—there’s definitely something about this song that feels very relaxing and makes you want to immerse yourself in it. We don’t want to sound all conspiracy theory-ish, but it’s no surprise that somehow this potential healing property was standardized out of usage... Hmmm, trust the government much? Anyway, let’s focus on the song that we’re really enjoying and appreciate that Autorub is once again paving the way for better things in music.
Right about halfway through this song, there’s a crescendo that delivers a beautiful, orchestra-style rock ‘n’ roll and full-band sound that is truly the embodiment of what rock ‘n’ roll should be. When you get a chance to experience the musical arrangement, you’ll be just as impressed as we were to learn that this artist is handling all of the instruments himself. The drums are played with terrific precision, featuring some beautiful fills, while the guitar and bass come through clean and crisp. The recording of this entire track deserves some kudos because the placement of each instrument in the mix allows you to enjoy them individually—and when they blend together, they still provide that individual clarity.
When we heard:
“If you don't let go Release your need To take control You will never know You'll be bound and chained To your own black soul Black soul,”
-we knew that this artist is also lyrically excellent, conveying a very powerful message.
Autorub possesses all the qualities of a fantastic performer, and we can’t imagine what this song must be like in a live setting.
What we learned is that Autorub is back and bringing the heat with this latest single, "The Falling (432Hz)." Based out of New York, Autorub—helmed by the multi-talented Michael Corn—delivers a killer mix of modern and classic vibes, blending genres with that signature style. Corn’s sharp, sarcastic edge and a knack for weaving smart, often political humor into his music make Autorub’s sound something that stands out. It’s polished and ready for the big leagues but still raw enough to feel real. It’s got bite, but it’s fun too, packed with substance musically and lyrically.
Michael Corn, who launched Autorub during the COVID-19 lockdowns, is no stranger to the scene. He’s a former member of the post-grunge band Sammy [Geffen] and the critically acclaimed Heydevils. His solo project keeps that rebellious spirit alive, crafting tracks that stick in your head and keep you coming back for more. Corn’s also got a foot in the world of TV, with music credits on hits like Pawn Stars, Wahlburgers, Duck Dynasty, and Love and Hip-Hop. It’s no wonder he’s got the chops to create tunes that feel both fresh and familiar.
"The Falling (432Hz)" is another banger from Autorub, following in the footsteps of past tracks like "Oh Marjorie" and "Big Girl Big Gun." This one’s got all the makings of a great rock anthem—catchy hooks, driving rhythms, and lyrics that cut deep. There’s an edge to it that’s both sarcastic and reflective, taking shots while keeping it real. And the sound? It’s got that Weezer, Green Day, and Foo Fighters vibe, but Autorub throws in classic analog synths that give it a touch of early Bowie/Eno or Gary Numan flair. It’s an experimental mix that’s 100% Autorub, blending genres into something that hits hard but stays true to its roots.
With "The Falling (432Hz)," Autorub is doubling down on what they do best—giving us a song that’s made for blasting at full volume but still leaves you thinking. It’s a perfect mix of infectious energy and thoughtful craftsmanship, proving once again that Michael Corn knows how to push boundaries while keeping you hooked.
