We had a chance to check out the latest release from Angelique Rodriguez, the EP “SURRENDER” and we loved it!

The opening song "Angel Angel" is a sweet and infectious ballad with a beautiful, angelic chorus effect that perfectly highlights Angelique's stunning vocal style. This song showcases a very energetic and captivating side of the singer because it displays incredible emotion and allows you to truly connect with her, especially with the gentle laughter at the end. What a terrific way to engage the audience right from the start.

Next, we dive into "Heaven Send Me," where Angelique's sweet vocal stylings are performed with such mastery. Her vocals deliver crystal-clear lyrics that let you absorb the message and feel your own attachment to the song. When we hear the words, "When I was young, swore I’d be great, but I feel like the ship sailed when I looked away," it hits deep. There’s nothing better than an artist who can craft lyrics that feel so relatable, while also opening your eyes to a truth you hadn’t fully recognized. The sense of understanding this message, but not having it front of mind until it flows through Angelique's powerful vocals, creates a truly inspiring moment. The piano performance here is a perfect blend and foundation for her smooth yet strong vocals. If you’re in the mood to shed a tear, this is the song for the day. Toward the end, Angelique seems to "go off script," letting her vocal abilities fly with some impressive techniques.

Then we move on to "Rise." The introductory guitars sound almost like a battle with Angelique’s vocals, intertwining and weaving through each other in an incredibly impressive way. They rise and fall together, matching the song’s title and adding another layer of depth to its meaning. This song delivers an empowering sensation, with the guitars shifting to acoustic but quickly building again as Angelique declares, "You kicked me down, but I’m healing now." This is an incredible fusion of acting, vocal ability, and lyrical prowess that creates an awesome listening experience. There’s a slight country styling here that elevates the song to the next level, making it perfect for placement in any movie or TV show. Halfway through, Angelique takes it up another notch with a boot-stomping vibe that makes you feel like you can't wait for her to take down whatever's trying to hold her back. All you can think is: you can't wait to hear Angelique rise! If you need to bounce back after shedding a tear earlier in the EP, this is your moment.

We rounded things out with the EP's title track, "Surrender," which takes a complete departure from the earlier songs. A synth sound with howling reverb introduces Angelique, leading into an extremely powerful vocal display of control that makes you want to close your eyes and immerse yourself in its beauty. Once again, we see a version of Angelique that’s empowered and rises with strength, but this time with a disco styling and a pop beat that makes you want to move your feet and shake your fist at the same time. Angelique proves to be an exceptional talent, crossing multiple genres and showcasing her terrific vocal abilities. When the beat kicks in, it’s infectious, and the catchy melodies make you fall in love with this artist.

About this artist:

After two years in the making, Angelique Rodriguez’s debut, “SURRENDER”, is finally here. At just 24, Angelique has crafted a deeply personal project that digs into the raw emotions of her experiences, exploring themes of self-love, healing, and empowerment. Reflecting on her journey, she explains, "I wanted to name it “SURRENDER” because I think it perfectly encapsulates the themes of the album and what I’m currently going through."

The album covers the highs and lows of life, focusing on letting go of past trauma and finding the courage to embrace love, joy, and peace. Angelique opens up about her struggle to release toxic influences and the need to stop worrying about what others think. As she puts it, “I sing about my struggles (but deep desire) to let go of my childhood trauma, let go of what others think, let go of toxic people, and allow myself to feel love, joy, peace, and healing.”
